Captain Paul Watson, founder of the environmental group ”Sea Shepherd” has been arrested in Germany on a warrant from the nation of Costa Rica.
This arrest warrant stems from the Sea Shepherd attempt to bring attention to the practice of shark finning and the illegitimate, unlawful operations of those who seek to profit from it.
Shark finning if you do not know is a commercial practice. The fins are used in such delicacies as shark fin soup in Asia. The shark is caught and regardless of its size or species has its fins cut off. That is it. No other part of the shark is used. Instead the finless living shark is thrown back into the ocean. It is basically the same as taking a person, hacking off their arms and legs then throwing them into deep water.
The result is a slow, struggling and painful death by drowning.
The Sea Shepherd have been called terrorists by many. But many also call them heroes.
I tend to place them in the category of heroes. They stand up for the rights of our world in the corners where there is no law. They fight to preserve our world against those that would exploit it for nothing more than a temporary financial gain. They want the next generation of mankind to have the experience of seeing a shark, a whale, a dolphin or a blue fin tuna in the wild.
It is the ones who call them terrorists that are the criminals and men like Paul Watson should be lauded….not arrested.
The German police said that the warrant for Captain Watson’s arrest was in response to an alleged violation of ships traffic in Costa Rica, during the filming of Sharkwater in 2002.
In a statement, Sea Shepherd said the incident took place on the high seas in Guatemalan waters, when Sea Shepherd encountered an illegal shark finning operation, run by a Costa Rican ship called the Varadero.
On order of the Guatemalan authorities, Sea Shepherd instructed the crew of the Varadero to cease their illegal activities and head back to port to be prosecuted.

This is so very true. The environment, animals and pristine land always seem to get the short end of the stick.
We not only have experienced earthquakes from fracking in the past. Now because of the boom that is allowing the process we are, and will experience more fracking earthquakes.
Fracking AKA hydro fracturing. Sounds like a dirty word. You would not say it in church would you? Sounds like it could be a plague from on high.
Strike the children, petulance, water bursting into flames, crops and animals falling dead in the fields. It is all happening at this moment.
Then the earth will shake. It is called a earthquake. Fracking was first linked to earthquakes by the United States Army in the 1960′s. At that time we had the technology to perform this process and it was abandoned.
I recently became aware of a report about fracking and its connection to earthquakes that the flag draped shills could in no way say is false. You see these shills also claim that aside from drilling the answer for everything is our military might and know how. But even our military knows about fracking earthquakes .
Yes the United States Army explored fracking and discontinued its use. The reason they stopped according to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal was:
“The Army discontinued use of the well in February 1966 because of the possibility that the fluid injection was “triggering earthquakes in the area,”
No folks, the date on that is not wrong. That is from a project that began in 1961 and was discontinued in 1966 for the above reason. This project was linked to a series of earthquakes in Colorado culminating in the largest earthquake in Colorado history, a 5.5 quake just outside of Denver.
Ask anyone who has lived in an area where earthquakes are common and they will describe them in the same words. Unexpected, terrifying and destructive. I personally lived in L.A. for over two decades and experienced quite a few.
So why would any person wish to inflict this experience on another for the simple and sole reason of profit?
Might as well ask why would the Nazis pull gold teeth from the bodies of the Jews? Why would people rob the graves of the dead? Why would a man take the scalp of another man or the ear of an animal?
The answer is plain old greed and possibly a lack of a soul. Sadly today there are people that are not only willing but able to inflict suffering upon others, our wildlife and our planet in the quest to place 30 silver coins in their pocket.
They may speak of 100 years of untapped energy that is just at our fingertips waiting for us to exploit it as we see fit. They would be right. One hundred years ago they were talking about all the oil and how it was an untapped source of energy waiting to be exploited. One hundred years before that it was coal that we would exploit. Back and back in time we go.. soil, wood, steel, bronze and copper.
Now we have smog, global warming and mountain top mining. Yes we have advanced at the expense of our health and our environment.
Now we have gone so far as to not only sacrifice all of that but the very ground we stand upon. Watch the video:
Of course now that fracking is wide spread in our nation you have seen the price of your natural gas go down…..haven’t you? Well….haven’t you?
If not it is because no matter what the people give up, our fuel costs will never go down. The oil industry will maintain its margin of billions per quarter at our expense. They make billions and we suffer oil spills, food contamination, flaming faucets and earthquakes.
Sound fair to you? I hope not.
However, there is one thing you can hold out for. If after fracking has come to your area and your water is undrinkable, your crops are dead and your kids are sick there may be hope. The oil companies might help you…..see past behavior on their part.
Well at least when your home shakes down around you in a fracking based quake and you have made a hovel out of the scraps of your life you can get cheaper natural gas to keep warm. Hell, it might be a dime less, or far more likely a dollar more than we pay today.
After all the oil companies, bankers and investors need to maintain ever growing profits. The rest of us are just grease for the gears and logs for the fire.
All they care about is their profit, period. They don’t care if we or the environment lives or dies. They don’t give one whit if you live or die. They will do anything that we allow them to get away with and more to make a profit. They don’t give a rat’s ass if they destroy our homes or businesses via an earthquake or a poisoned water source as long as they maintain their profit margin. That’s what hey call their bottom line.
We have to decide what means as much to us as profits do to the energy companies. What is our bottom line?
The choice is ours.
Find a stop gap that will destroy even more of the world and let our great grand kids deal with it or find a solution now?
Let the oil companies reduce our air, water and through shaking it our very soil to useless levels or simply say they cannot because we will not allow them to do it?
More and more it looks like fracking is not good for people or the world. Quite simply the only thing it is good for is oil company profits at the expense of you, me and the future of our world.
Maybe the earth needs to quake under you and shake your own home down before it becomes real to you.
